Peetz, Colorado

Peetz, Colorado currently has one active CO2 pipeline which is Trailblazer Pipeline, an over 40 year old formerly natural gas pipeline that has been transporting carbon dioxide since October of 2025.

Summit Carbon Solutions has proposed a second CO2 pipeline to begin construction in 2027-2028 that will come right along Trailblazer or move north of Rockies Express Pipeline where the wind towers are too close to the route.

DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT!

Things to know:

  • Families, farmers, and ranchers should know that concentrated CO2 is an asphyxiant and in the event of a rupture will render vehicles inoperable while asphyxiating people and livestock. Heavier than air, it will pool in lower lying areas and can travel for miles. Most homeowners and liability insurance policies will not cover the costs of losses.

  • Logan County does not have setbacks for pipelines meaning this can run very near your home even if you don’t sign an easement (if your neighbor does).

  • Colorado’s eminent domain law does NOT ban its use for CO2 purposes (yet). This is being proposed - tell our legislators!

  • Summit Carbon left South Dakota because they banned it, showing they planned to use it

  • CO2 pipelines are intrinsically unsafe

  • CO2injection wells risk contaminating the soil, aquifer, etc.

  • Environmentalists find carbon sequestration to be ineffective and causing the very emissions its supposed to remove

  • Satartia, MS had a rupture that plumed CO2 with contaminants including H2S for 4 hours. Their 9 mile stretch of ruptured pipeline released 1.32M gallons of concentrated CO2. The Peetz Trailblazer Pipeline is 7 miles between valves but a larger pipe which would release around 2M gallons.
